As a result of a cyber attack on the servers of the telecommunications company NTT Communications, attackers could gain access to the data of the Self-Defense Forces of Japan.

On May 28, NTT Communications reported a data leak as a result of unauthorized access to its network, affecting 621 companies. Representatives of NTT Communications refused to disclose company names, citing the need to maintain their confidentiality.
According to Kyodo news sources, the stolen data may contain information about communication equipment, the location of the naval forces in the port of Yokosuka, as well as communication lines in ten locations of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces. According to sources, criminals could gain access to more than 100 files.

The Japanese Ministry of Defense is investigating the incident in collaboration with NTT Communications. As noted in the department, possible data leaks can affect the operation of the main information system of the Self-Defense Forces of Japan.

Over the past month, this is the second possible leak of information in Japan related to military data. Recall earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Japan beganInvestigation of a suspected data leak that could have occurred last year as a result of a massive cyber attack on Mitsubishi Electric Corp. Attackers could gain access to information regarding the development of hypersonic missiles. The criminal groups Black Tech and Tick are suspected of organizing a cyber attack.
